According to Dr. Mercola’s recent posting on Electromagnetic Fields, “Illness linked to electromagnetic radiation exposure includes many cancers, neurological conditions, ADD, sleep disorders, depression, autism, cognitive problems, cardiovascular irregularities, hormone disruption, immune system disorders, metabolism changes, stress, fertility impairment, increased blood brain barrier permeability, mineral disruption, DNA damage and much, much more.” He posted a summary on the effects of EMF copied below:

In a 24 minute video on electromagnetichealth.org, Dr. Litovitz shared information on the negative effects of EMF. He showed slides on cells that exhibited DNA clumping when exposed to EMF. He also discussed its link to leukemia and the the importance of the dose being the poison.

Different people exhibit different effects from EMF. For example, Dr. Klinghardt proposes  body weight, body-mass index, bone density, and water and electrolyte levels can alter the conductivity and biological reactivity to EMFs.

An excerpt from Explore for the Professional on Autism Recovery, summarizes Dr. Klinghardt’s belief on EMFs:

In the Cordless phones are the worst offenders, says Dr. Klinghardt. The effect is like a gunshot going off in the brain. Known medical effects include disturbance of all known intrinsic rhythms (EEG, heart rate variability, breathing patterns, 24 hour meridian activity, bowel movements, detoxification and more). The blood brain and gut barrier (leaky gut syndrome) are stuck in an open position, there is a synergistic effect with other fields and mold growth increases in homes. Microwave technology, such as in cell phone radiation from the base station, affects the blood brain barrier in a 1.6 mile radius. The known medical effects include increased cancer rate three fold in ten years after cell phone radiation is brought into a community, after a five year incubation period. Severe EEG, HRV and EKG changes, delayed and disturbed brain development in infants, decreased melatonin and hormone production, an open blood brain barrier with increased toxicity all affect endothelial cells in gut mucosa and endothelium, and are responsible for illness and death in trees, especially right in front of the cell towers.

Dr. Goldsworthy proposes that EMFs mechanism of damage is due to its effect on the cell wall and leakage of lysosomal enzymes. According to a research journal from the BioInitiatve Working Group, EMF damages DNA and proteins through its effect on heat shock protein, c-myc, and c-jun in certain biological systems.
